After the first day, wash and thoroughly dry 2 - 3 times a day for 3 days using the same methods as before. Apply a very thin amount of ointment and don't cover it with tight clothing. Loose clothing is okay but prevent anything from rubbing against it.

Keeping it exposed to the air is preferred. After 3 days stop using ointments and switch to a small amount of fragrance free lotion like Lubriderm or Aveeno until the skin returns to its pre-tattooed condition. Make sure to wash it and dry it thoroughly beforehand.

Do NOT soak in a tub, or hot tub, use a sauna or go swimming until the tattoo is completely healed. Do NOT rub or pick the tattooed area. Do not allow your tattoo to be exposed to direct sunlight or tanning booths. Your tattoo should heal in 2 weeks.

There is no such thing as a stupid question. I'm happy to answer them.

If you develop any signs or symptoms of infection such as redness at the site ( some redness for the first few days is normal), green/yellow or foul-smelling discharge or and/or fever consult a physician immediately.

Please read this and follow me rules!

What to do when you get home:

1. After 3 hours, remove the bandage the tattoo for 10 gently and wash with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap (like Dial Gold or something equivalent). DO NOT RE BANDAGE. Allow the area to dry completely.

2. Apply a thin film of ointment (Hustle Butter, Neosporin, Aquaphor) and rest the tattooed area as much as possible.

3. I recommend icing the tattoo for 10 minutes the first night. Be sure to use a barrier like heavy-duty plastic wrap to prevent the ice pack from touching the tattoo. Wash with antibacterial soap immediately after and thoroughly pat dry with paper towels or allow to air dry.

4. Sleep with clean sheets and no animals. Let the area stay exposed to air if possible. Wash it upon waking. Let it dry and apply a thin amount of ointment.

Okay, now how to take care of your new tattoo!
